Leitchfield Police Department
The Leitchfield Police Department has seen and has been a part of the ever-changing profession of law enforcement over the last ten years. All officers of the department are required to be certified and this is accomplished by completing eighteen (18) weeks of training through the Department of Criminal Justice Training locates in Richmond, Kentucky. In addition to the eighteen (18) weeks, every officer is required to complete forty (40) hours of in-service training annually. Several different areas of study are available for these classes.
Officers are also involved in different community and school functions. We offer safety, drug, security, crime watch programs and assist with different charitable organizations in providing for the needy children of our community.
Officers of the Leitchfield Police Department are entrusted with the duties to protect and serve the citizens of this community as well as enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth and those ordinances enacted by the City of Leitchfield.
Officers are very community oriented and strive to make Leitchfield a safe community in which to live and raise their families.
The Leitchfield Police Department consists of fifteen (15) sworn officers and one (1) secretary. In April 2006, the Leitchfield Police Department was awarded accreditation through the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police.
